Society & Economy

Jitong Yao’s research examines how generative AI and digital platforms allocate visibility, shape trust, and influence access to markets and social resources. Working across information systems and sociology, he uses computational audits, behavioral experiments, and field-oriented platform research to study generative search, platform governance, consumer decision-making, and social-impact operations. His work asks not only whether AI systems perform, but how they reorganize opportunity, credibility, and participation.

Education

Jitong Yao’s academic work connects technology, institutions, and education. Trained in sociology at the University of California, Berkeley and pursuing a PhD in Innovation and Information Management at the University of Hong Kong, he studies how AI-mediated environments affect learning, trust, and participation. Through books including Nurturing Excellence, editorial leadership at Education Insights Journal, and research on digital platforms, he advances more inclusive, evidence-based, and future-oriented approaches to education.
